Applications of Tungsten Carbide

Tungsten carbide has a series of excellent performances. It has high hardness, abrasion resistance, good strength and toughness, heat resistance and corrosion resistance etc. Especially its high hardness and wear resistance, even at 500in temperature are basically unchanged and at 1000 it still has very high hardness. Carbide is extensively used to make tools and cutters. For example, turning inserts, milling inserts, shaping inserts, boring cutters, and drilling bits etc are made of carbide. They are used to process rough and semi-finishing of cast iron, non-ferrous metals, plastic, fiber, graphite, glass, stone and ordinary steel, and also can be used to process heat-resistant steel, stainless steel, high-manganese steel, tool steel and other materials which are difficult to process. Nowadays, the cutting speed of new cemented carbide tools is several hundred times higher than that of carbon steel.

It has cutting edge with special strength and toughness in an optimal combination with TiC, Al2O3, TiN coating. And it is generally used to rough process steel, especially for cast steel and forged steel.

 

BPP301    P20~P35                                         It can be MT-CVD coated and appears golden yellow color. It has cutting edge with special strength and toughness in an optimal combination with TiC, TiCN, and TiN coating. It is widely used to finish and semi-finish and roughly process steel and cast steel.

 

BPP256    P10~P25                                        It has PVD coating and appears dark purple color. If it is combined with substrate with good strength and wear resistance, and coated with TiAIN, it is good for finishing and semi-finishing steel and carbon steel.

And it is specially used for finishing and semi-finishing titanium, aluminum, copper and brass, chilled cast iron and non-metal materials such as acrylic, plastic, graphite, and refractory brick etc.

BPK109    K01~K10                                        It has DLC (diamond-like carbon coating) coating and appears shining slate gray color. It is combined with substrate with good strength and wear resistance. And it is specially used for finishing and semi-finishing titanium, aluminum, copper and brass, chilled cast iron and non-metal materials such as acrylic, plastic, graphite, and refractory brick etc.

 

BPM206    K10~K25                                        It has PVD coating and appears dark purple color. It is combined with substrate with good strength and impact resistance, and coated with TiAIN. And it is excellent for processing stainless steel.

 

BPM256    K10~K35                                        It has PVD coating and appears dark purple color. It is combined with substrate with good strength and impact resistance, and coated with TiAIN. And it is ideal for roughly and interrupted cutting stainless steel.
